Sika Deer

Sika Deer are native to Japan, Taiwan and eastern Asia.  The Sika Deer were introduced to the Chesapeake Bay watershed in 1916.  The Sika reside in the Bay year round.   The Sika Deer is actually a small, brown elk that has a white rump and white spots on its back.  The Sika male is called a Stag.  The Sika female is called a Hind.  A baby is called a calf.  Our Sika Deer are extremely social and very friendly.
